The frontispiece contains a portrait of Titian between laurel leaves and the lion of St. Mark and a drape containing the dedication. This is followed by 17 anatomical engravings derived from woodcuts from 'De humani Corporis Fabrica' Basel, 1543, by Andrea Vesalio, to which the controversial attribution of Titian's anatomical drawings is linked. The engravings are initialled 'D.B.S.'. 'Domenico Bonavera sculpsit' and he also initialled 'T.I.D.' 'Tizianus inventor delineavit'.
