DOUGLAS Lord Alfred (1870-1945). Poems. Poems. Paris, Mercure de France, 1896; in-12 mauve-brown morocco, three gilt fillets framing the covers, ribbed spine decorated with pale pink mosaic cinquefoils, gilt edges on witnesses, gilt inner lace, cover (Sevin). Rare first edition of this bilingual French-English collection of sometimes sulphurous poetry. It was intended to be dedicated to Oscar Wilde, but the poet's conviction dissuaded Douglas and the book was published without a dedication. Heliogravure frontispiece portrait. Copy on publisher's paper, well bound. - Some foxing; spine slightly browned.
