Lot no. 45
DROIN Alfred (1878-1967). Du sang sur la mosquée, poems. Paris, Fasquelle, 1914; in-12 of xii-191-[1] pp. in a slightly later binding, smooth half-brown calf spine decorated in cold with crescent moon and stars, boards framed in brown calf with cold roulette and large watercoloured and varnished floral composition, floral paper endpapers, cover and spine. First edition. The collection brings together verses written during the Fez uprising in 1912. One can sense the author's somewhat paradoxical passion and admiration for the Moroccan people and customs. Facsimile preface letter from General Lyautey. ☞ Publisher's paper. The very attractive binding is unsigned. - Ex-libris Daniel Wapler.
