A famous - but extremely rare - facetious collection with obscene overtones, consisting of 35 notarial deeds or fictitious contracts satirising social relations, particularly in Lyon. A "curious and much sought-after book" (Brunet, II, 1343). The only copy of the 1594 original, listed in the La Vallière catalogue (no. 3876), has since disappeared. A copy belonging to Baron de Ruble with an ex-libris (Cat., 1899, no. 493). According to the catalogue description, the volume came from the library of Léon Cailhava of Lyon. Slight crack to the upper hinge, otherwise a fine copy. PHP stamp.
