DUMAS (Alexandre). Caligula, tragedy in five acts and verse, with a prologue. Paris, Marchant, 1838. In-8, fawn half-calf, smooth spine decorated, spotted edges (Binding of the period). First edition of this verse tragedy written in collaboration with Gérard de Nerval, who is not credited. The play was first performed at the Théâtre-Français on 26 December 1837. Autograph signed letter: Avec mille amitiés, A. Dumas. Two spines split, spotting at the end of the volume, endpapers renewed. Attached is an autograph note from the stage manager of the Théâtre du Panthéon addressed to a playwright in 1839. Vicaire, III, 346 - Talvart, n°25 - Munro, 65.
