Lot no. 36
DUMAS fils Alexandre (1824-1895). Péchés de jeunesse. Paris, Fellens et Dufour, 1847; in-8, tawny jansenist morocco, ribbed spine, inner frame in the same morocco outlined with 5 bold and light gilt fillets and one cold fillet, taupe moire lining and endpapers, gilt edges, cover, slipcase (Maylander). Rare first edition, the young author's first book, published at Dumas père's expense. The last poem evokes the death of "la dame aux camélias" Marie Duplessis, for whom Dumas wrote the novel that made him famous the following year in 1848. - A very fine copy, despite some minor scuffing.
