Edition of 526 copies, this one of 500 on hollande. Autograph signed letter from Dumas to his favourite actor Frédéric-Alexandre Febvre: A Febvre souvenirs affectueux. A copy enriched with several very interesting loose items: - Two engraved portraits of the famous Marie Duplessis (1824-1847), model for the Dame aux Camélias, ephemeral and passionate mistress of Alexandre Dumas fils from September 1844 to August 1845: a rare print on Japon, in sanguine, of the etching after the painting by Pierre-Vincent Vidal made for the Revue L'Artiste. Vidal's painting of the courtesan in a bathrobe, emerging from her bath, her black hair spread over her shoulders, kept by the Duplessis family, has disappeared; a black print of the same portrait. - A rare photograph of the missing painting, already very damaged. - A gouache portrait on paper by Mme F. based on the miniature of the portrait of Marie Duplessis kept at the Théâtre français and given by Dumas to the doctor who treated her. This miniature reproduces the painting by Édouard Viénot. - an invoice from the pharmacist Gibon, near the Madeleine, where Marie Duplessis's flat was located, paid in her name: Paris 30 January 1847, one bottle of morphine syrup. This invoice predates the young woman's death by only 3 days. - 1 autograph note (4 pp.) signed by Alexandre Dumas fils, on blue paper, Dieppe July 69, addressed to Monsieur Labiche, 67 rue Caumartin, Paris. - 2 autograph letters (8 pp.) signed by Alexandre Dumas fils, one dated 23 March 1886.
