Paris, Garnier frères, 1847-1848; 5 vol. in-8, half red long-grained morocco, with corners, smooth spines decorated throughout in the romantic style, black parts with rounded edges, gilt heads, trimmed, covers preserved (Ad. Lavaux). First edition. Dumas travelled to Spain to attend the wedding of the Duc de Montpensier, reporting on the festivities and a thousand curious anecdotes about bullfighting, gastronomy and Spanish customs.
A very fine copy bound by Adrien Lavaux, an excellent Parisian bookbinder of the mid-twentieth century, with the yellow covers preserved.
