A much enlarged second edition of these travel accounts by Jean Dumont, Baron de Carlscroon (1667-1727), first published in 1694 under the title Nouveau voyage du Levant. The edition is illustrated with a frontispiece and 8 beautiful folding plates. Copy of Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763-1814), with the cipher PB (Pagerie-Bonaparte) at the foot of the spines and the Malmaison library stamp on the titles. The fourth volume is missing. A short-margined copy, bindings restored, headpieces worn, brown spots and foxing, some paper repairs.
