EARLY GREEK / WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE SWORD.
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze sword with a tapering blade featuring a raised central rib running along its entire length. The blade is attached to a separately cast hilt with a crescent-shaped guard. The grip is segmented by a series of raised ridges, ending in a curved pommel. A similar example sold for £10,200 at Bonhams, Antiquities, 7 July 2022, Lot 76. Size: 430mm x 60mm; Weight: 565g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously with Dr. Roozendaal collection, the Netherlands, 1970s-1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
