EBEL (Johann Gottfried) et MEYER (Johann Jakob) Voyage pittoresque dans le Canton des Grisons en Suisse vers le lac Majeur et le lac de Côme sur les grandes routes nouvellement construites à travers les cols de Splugen et de Bernhardin en 32 planches. Accompanied by an introduction and explanation by Dr J.G. Ebel. Zurich, by the author, 1827. Oblong folio, muted red boards in cardboard slipcase with original title vignette pasted on (restored tears to boards, corners redone). First French edition, published one year after the original German edition. With a title illustrated with an engraved view, an in fine map, 32 hors-texte plates engraved in aquatint by J. J. Meyer, numbered from 1 to 30 + 7b and 25b, and 6 caption plates with reminders of the views in miniature (the explanatory plate for view 7b is in small format, and the small explanatory plate for view 25b has not been bound and is missing as is often the case). The text is printed in 2 columns. The views have been superbly watercoloured. Text and engravings are in perfect condition. Bookplate of Frédéric de Pourtalès, Count of the Empire, of Swiss nationality, officer in the service of Prussia, then France (1779-1861).
