AMERICAN SCHOOL OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY A CARNIVAL SURPRISED BY A LOCOMOTIVE Original canvas Monogrammed lower right "FM American school from the first half of the 20th CENTURY, a carnival surprised by a locomotive, original canvas 69 x 130 CM - 27,1 x 51,2 IN. The locomotive bears the number 1517 and the word "Colon" or "Culon" on the wheels. The 1517 locomotives ran on the Southern Pacific line (and less often on the Northern Pacific line), in other words in the American West. These steam locomotives were produced in the early 20th century, became common in the 1930s and were withdrawn in 1980. This locomotive can be found in the work of British engraver Edwin Thomas Rudd, who signed his work F. Moore or FM. He worked with the Locomotive Publishing Company.
