LJ Minor damage and missing parts A statue of the Virgin, probably made in Pisa in the mid-14th century by the workshop of Andrea or Nino Pisano, is venerated in the "Chapel of the Fishermen" in the Annunziata convent in Trapani (western Sicily). Its extraordinary fame has led to countless replicas being made over the centuries in the city's workshops, which specialise in alabaster carving.
