Our composition is based on a late-career work by the still-life painter Cornelis de Heem (Leiden, 1631-Antwerp, 1695), which Fred Meijer dates to the 1680s 1. According to Fred Meijer, our version was probably created a few years later after Cornelis de Heem's prototype.
