The Emperor Napoleon I
Ferrous alloy subject on a pedestal, mounted on a flared column decorated with a gilded crowned eagle.
Under the base is a handwritten note (partly faded), dated 1813: "de Napoléon. Belonged to Gl Kellermann. Given by the Emperor in 1813".

François Etienne Kellermann (1770-1835)
The son of a marshal, he distinguished himself in the cavalry with two emblematic charges, that of Marengo, which decided the victory, and that of Waterloo, requested in these terms by Marshal Ney: "My dear general, the salvation of France is at stake. An extraordinary effort is required. Take your cavalry, throw yourself into the middle of the English. Crush them, go over their stomachs!

Former Napoleonic collection of the Palais Princier de Monaco (2nd sale, lot 61).
According to the museum's inventories, this bust was made at Napoleon's request from the bronze of the Austerlitz cannons and given to Kellermann by Napoleon himself.
