James-Sarazin) : Probably Sale of the Achille Seillière collection, Château de Mello, Paris, Galerie Georges Petit, 9 March 1911, no. 13, not reproduced (Schools of Rigaud, Canvas, 116 x 90 CM). BIBLIOGRAPHY Probably A. James-Sarazin with the collaboration of J-Y Sarazin, Hyacinthe Rigaud 1659-1743. Catalogue raisonné, tome 2, cited under n° P821, page 278 (other versions mentioned in various old sales). Our painting is a remake, with variations, notably the absence of the cordon of the Holy Spirit, of the portrait of Louis de Bourbon duc de Bourgogne painted by Hyacinthe Rigaud and Joseph Parrocel around 1702-1703 (canvas, 132 x 104 CM), kept at Kenwood House, The Iveagh Bequest and of which there is a replica kept at the Musée national des Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon (canvas, 129 x 98 CM; See A. James S). Our model, blond and blue-eyed, could be one of Louis XIV's sons, but he does not wear the cordon of the Holy Spirit worn by princes of the blood.
