18th century French school, Presumed portrait of Jacques-Bénigne Winslow ( 1669 - 1760), Oil on canvas, 70.5 x 61 cm Franco-Danish physician, anatomist, university professor in Paris, professor at the Jardin du Roi (1743-1758). In this portrait, he is holding in his left hand one of the four volumes of Winslow's Anatomy, the main work teaching anatomy in the 18th century. Seven parts of the human body now bear Winslow's name.
