B. Weenix, Celebrations on a boat in a harbour, canvas, unframed, with restorations and lacks 88 x 78,5 CM - 34,6 x 30,9 IN. Our painting is a variant of Jan Baptist Weenix's composition The Ferry and the Merry Company (canvas, 61 x 77 cm) in the collections of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage, Rijswijk and Amersfoort (see A. A. Van Wagenberg - Ter Hœven, Jan Baptist Weenix. The Paintings, Zwolle, 2018, no. 44, reproduced in colour). Anke van Wagenberg mentions a copy of Weenix's work on the Spanish art market in 2015. A very similar painting, signed Cornelis Jacobsz. van der Burgh, came up for sale in 1990 (Christie's, New York. Canvas, 88.3 x 107.3 cm).
