The le Vaillant family comprises numerous branches, including the lords of La Ferrière-Harenc, Lignerolles, Le Val, Vaux-Martin, Roucamp, Monthardon, Banneville, Les Landes, Barbeville, de La Ferrière, de Vaumartin, du Parc and de Roucamp, etc. This Norman family has been known since Richard le Vaillant, squire and lord of Lignerolles and La Ferrière-Harenc in the early 14th century.
