Provenance Private collection La Petite Danseuse de 14 ans is a wax sculpture presented by Edgar Degas at the Exposition des Indépendants exhibition in 1881. The Comité Degas contractually authorised its reduction in bronze to a height of around 70 cm for 38 bronzes individually stamped as follows: 26 bronzes marked with the letters of the alphabet from A to Z. 9 bronzes marked I/IX to IX/IX. 1 bronze marked "HEIR" for the Degas Committee. 2 bronzes marked HC1/2 and HC2/2. This 70 cm Petite Danseuse numbered VIII/IX is registered in the Committee's computer database. This record is intended for the production of a Catalogue Raisonné of Degas' sculptures. A certificate from the Comité Degas dated 1 August 2022 will be given to the buyer.
