ÉDOUARD PINGRET (Saint-Quentin, 1788-1875) A CALABRIAN WOMAN WITH A TAMBOURINE Cardboard Inscribed in pencil on the reverse "Étude de Pingret (Édouard) né à St Quentin (Aisne) Élève de Regnault et de David Médaille 2 classe 1824 et 1831 Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur 1839 (Genri Historique)". A calabiran woman with a tambourine, cardboard 35 x 25,50 CM - 13,8 x 10 IN. Édouard Pingret produced a number of portraits of women in costume. Between 1841 and 1846, the Royal Costume Gallery published a work on "Italian Costumes painted by Pingret". This study can be compared with two others, sold at Tajan on 19 June 2018 (no. 68 and no. 69). They bear the same inscriptions on the reverse.
