EGYPTIAN AMETHYST HEAD OF SEKHMETH Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A head of Sekhmet carved from amethyst. The lioness features are rendered with rounded ears, almond-shaped eyes, a broad snout, and pronounced whisker pads. A collar is indicated by incised lines forming a radiating pattern around the lower part of the face. The reverse is flat and smoothly finished, with a drilled tunnel for suspension.
