EGYPTIAN ANHYDRITE VESSEL WITH LID Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A small cosmetic vessel carved from pale anhydrite with a compact, inverted piriform body tapering towards a flattened base. The broad shoulders rise to a short neck surmounted by a flat, projecting lip fitted with a matching circular lid with a shallow plug underside. For similar see: A.
