EGYPTIAN BRONZE DAGGER WITH ELABORATE POMMEL Middle Kingdom - Second Intermadiate Period, Ca. 2055 - 1640 BC An Egyptian bronze dagger with a pointed blade taapering to a tip with a raised mid-rib, inserted into the separately-cast hilt and attached by rivets. The hilt features an arched guard tapering along the sides of the blade, while the openwork pommel flares to secure the oval openwork bone terminal, riveted in place. Size: 310mm x 60mm; Weight: 250g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old Canadian collection of F. N., Ontario, formed in the 1980s.
