EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN CAT AMULET. Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A carnelian cat amulet, carved as a recumbent feline with the forepaws drawn forward and the hindquarters tucked beneath the body. The head rises from a slender neck with alert, triangular ears and a tapered muzzle. The back is smoothly contoured, the haunches full, and the tail curls around the right flank to the rump. The underside is flattened. Size: 23mm x 20mm; Weight: 5.6g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with G. Metz, Sweden 1980s-1990s.
