EGYPTIAN FAIENCE ANUBIS AMULET
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC.
A faience amulet in the form of the jackal-headed god Anubis standing on an integral rectangular base. The figure is shown striding forward with arms at the sides, and wearing a short kilt. The head is rendered with prominent ears and a projecting snout.

Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously in a collection of a North London gentleman; formerly in a collection of Mrs B. Ellison, a deceased former member of the Egyptian Exploration Fund, bought from the 1940s, Cairo and London.
