EGYPTIAN FAIENCE CORNFLOWER New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A cornflower in glazed faience with a flaring calyx in cobalt blue and a bulbous ovary in pale green. The calyx is defined by vertical ribbing, while the body is incised with a network of diagonal lines forming a lozenge pattern. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
