EGYPTIAN FAIENCE LOTUS FLOWER-SHAPED COSMETIC PLATE. Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 332 - 30 BC. A shallow faience plate with a bichrome glaze. The vessel has a wide flaring rim and a shallow bowl-shaped centre, resting on a short circular foot. The exterior is moulded with radiating lotus petal motifs in low relief, while the upper surface of the rim is decorated with vegetal elements and scrolling tendrils surrounding the central cavity. A rosette is positioned at the bottom of the bowl. Size: 95mm x 35mm; Weight: 195g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Bonhams, 28 October 2009, Lot 83.
