Lot no. 522
EGYPTIAN FAIENCE OFFERING SPOON WITH SWIMMING GIRL.
Third Intermediate Period, Ca. 943 - 716 BC. A light green faience offering spoon in the form of a nude female figure depicted in a prone swimming posture. The figure is modelled with the legs joined and extended straight behind. Breasts and navel are clearly indicated, and the arms, originally stretched forward, would have supported a now-missing shallow basin. The head is rendered with finely detailed facial features and a striated wig, with traces of black glaze preserved in the cavities. For similar see: J.
