EGYPTIAN GLASS STOPPER OF CANOPIC JAR WITH HUMAN-HEADED IMSETY. New Kingdom, Ca. 1279 - 1152 BC. A glass stopper from a canopic jar. It is carved in the form of the human-headed deity Imsety, one of the Four Sons of Horus. Canopic jars were used to store and protect the internal organs of the deceased during mummification. The jar with an Imsety stopper would typically hold the liver. This piece is accompanied by a modern custom-made stand. Size: 150mm x 60mm; Weight: 210g.
