EGYPTIAN GOLD SWIVEL RING WITH INSCRIBED AMETHYST SCARAB.
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC A gold swivel ring formed from a rounded hoop with its shoulders wrapped in tight spiral wire and terminating in cylindrical collars securing a transverse bar. An amethyst scarab, pierced lengthwise, is mounted between the collars in a narrow oval gold frame, the back carved with the segmented carapace and wing cases, the underside engraved with a hieroglyphic inscription. Size: D:18.34mm / US: 8 1/4 / UK: Q; Weight: 3.47g. Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with S.T. collection, Switzerland, 1980s-2000s.
