EGYPTIAN GRANITE CRAMP OF SETI I Ca. 1294 - 1279 BC. A butterfly-shaped granite cramp incised with hieroglyphs reading "the good god Menmaatre", the throne name (prenomen) of Pharaoh Seti I. Such cramps were employed in the construction of temples, used by builders to secure adjoining blocks of masonry. For similar see: National Museums Liverpool, Accession number 1973.1.577 (in wood). Size: 180mm x 370mm; Weight: 21.1kg Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Thalassic collection. This piece is accompanied by an authentication report from Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
