EGYPTIAN SILVER BASTET PENDANT.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC
A silver amulet in the form of a seated cat on a rectangular integral base. The animal sits upright with the forepaws aligned and the tail wrapped along the right side. The head is rendered with prominent ears, large eyes and a short muzzle, with a collar indicated around the neck. A substantial suspension ring rises from the back.
Size: 21mm x 13mm; Weight: 11g.
Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Switzerland; formerly with W.R. , late 1980s to early 1990s.
