EGYPTIAN WOODEN COFFIN MASK.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A polychrome wooden coffin mask with a broad face painted in a reddish hue. The eyes are large and almond-shaped, outlined in black with thick brows painted above. The nose is straight, prominent, and symmetrical. The lips are full, subtly defined, and slightly pursed. The mask is mounted on an acrylic display stand. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition. Size: 150mm x 120mm; Weight: 480g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the French market in the 1970s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
