EGYPTO-PHOENICIAN FAIENCE PENDANT WITH DEITIES.
Ca. 600 - 500 BC
A faience pendant in the form of a rectangular plaque with a rounded top and an integral suspension lug, each face framed by a double border and moulded in low relief. One side is arranged in two registers, the upper with the jackal god Anubis recumbent on a shrine and flanked by uraei, the lower with two standing deities set in arched panels. The reverse shows Anubis bending over a mummiform figure laid on a lion-legged bier, with symbols in the field above.

Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with Kurt Deppert collection, Munich, 1970s.
