IRON CASQUET
Germany, dated 1606.
Rectangular iron casket with hinged lid and lock on pinch feet. The edges with flamed mouldings and remnants of a setting and gilding. The walls and lid inlaid with pierced, chiselled brass plates in the form of floral tendrils, winged hybrid creatures and grotesques. The inside of the lock plate with engraved decoration in the form of a crowned double-headed eagle and the monogram IMK as well as dated 1606. Lock with six latches. Keyhole under the sliding lid. 1 key. Inscribed at the bottom: Heinz and Adrienne Haushofer on their engagement in 1928 by Max, Caroline and Richard Bernheimer in Munich.
