Elegant silver tray, fully gilded. Narrow, rectangular tray with a slightly moulded, smooth mirror. Wide rim decorated all round with an abstract, bark-like pattern. Marked 925, maker's mark of Ferdinand Richard Wilm and "H. J. Wilm Hamburg". Weight approx. 1375 g. 45.2 cm x 23 cm.
Ferdinand Richard Wilm (1880-1971) was one of the most important German jewellers of the modern era and a leading member of the Deutscher Werkbund. In 1931/32, he founded the German Society of Goldsmiths with Peter Behrens. He was awarded gold medals at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937 and the Milan Triennale in 1940.
