Emil Filla (1882 - 1953) Still life with grape oil on canvas, 1930, 45 x 56 cm, sign. DM, frame. An excellent example of Filla´s top white period represents the best synthesis of what the author in this period possessed. Original artist´s adjustment and great origin makes image collecting treasure. It is not surprising that this unique piece to his collection chose Venera from Brno, which similarly dealt Filla´s compositions as most treasured. Exposed to 152 Member Manes exhibition in 1930 under the catalogue No. 41; on the blind frame is a stamp of the exhibition in Manes in 1932 (Catalogue No. 168a). The painting was created in the period known as the white for its major role, that white had in Filla´s paintings those times. Also in the considered image plays a major role and together with lines that have a significant contribution as well, brings the painting closer to color drawing. This concept belongs in Filla´s work to the most typical: Picasso, Filla´s great model, did not paint that way in that time and if there is someone on whom in this context we think, it is Raoul Dufy who painted and drew his pictures at the same time.
