Expertise by recognized expert Professor Jaromir Zemina, enclosed. Professor Jaromir Zemina, remarked: “The painting was completed during one of Filla's happiest creative periods. It is a painterly poem about the well-being of life, combining the pleasures of the senses and the spirit, and is one of Filla's most intimate creations. Filla painted such small still lifes in moments of rest between larger works and often gifted them to his friends. The culmination of his art, which he reached at that time, was manifested by his almost inexhaustible inventiveness as a colorist and the ingenuity with which he handled impasto – for him, color was not only an optical phenomenon, but also a haptic one. He enriched the physical component of his paintings by alternating low and high layers of paint with an admixture of sand to roughen them. He also added engraving in the impasto, which brought a component of drawing into the paintings. Because of the abundant use of whites in the color, the late 1920s is called Filla's white period.
