Inscribed in black ink: "all the delicacy of young forms, [...] especially in the more or less arched opening of the two [...] velvet torso in [.] ... embroidered [arr... embroidered [arr...] in velvet ... red, green and blue apron down to the bottom ... the foot, shod with a coloured [purple...] or green slipper, is in a black clog or sock [...]". 31 x 24 cm PROVENANCE : - Atelier Émile Bernard - Clément Altarriba Collection - Private collection, Paris NOTE : Preparatory study for Bretonnes au Pardon, a painting by Émile BERNARD kept at the Musée d'Orsay and taken over by Vincent VAN GOGH in 1888. A certificate of authenticity from Madame Béatrice RECCHI-ALTARRIBA, granddaughter of Émile BERNARD, will be given to the buyer.
