BYZANTINE EMPIRE - BYZANTINE Roman IV Diogenes (1068-1071). Histamenon nomisma ND (1068-1071), Constantinople. Av. KwN - MX - AND. Michael VII in the centre, Constantine on the left, Andronic on the right wearing the stemma, dressed in the sakkos and loros with the maniakion, standing frontally. Michael VII holds the labarum in his right hand and the akakia in his left. Constantine and Andronic hold a cruciger globe in their outer hands and the akakia in their inner hands. On the ground, a beaded line or souppedion. Rv. + RwMAN' EVDOKIA. The bearded Christ in the centre, with the cruciger nimbus, wearing the stola and kolobion, standing frontally on a souppedion, crowns Roman on the left and Eudoxia on the right. Roman wears the stemma and Eudoxia the three-pointed crown, both dressed in the sakkos and loros with the maniakion, the outer hand on the chest and holding a cruciger globe with the inner hand. Above IC - XC. BC.1861 - BN.53b/04-06 - Sommer 54.2 ; Gold - 4.38 g - 25 mm - 6 h From the sale MDC 11 n° 423. NGC Ch AU 5/5 5/5 (6633798-010). Variety with ground beaded line and single Christ on a souppedion. In mint condition with beautiful golden patina. Superb to Fleur de coin.
