On a fairly regular flan, neatly struck, with beautifully styled portraits of the Emperors aged 13 and 12. This copy has hardly circulated and has a delicate patina on the original gloss. Superb at Fleur de coin.
On this aureus, imperial propaganda conceals the hatred that the two brothers, Caracalla and Geta, sons of Septimius Severus, had for each other. In December 211, on the death of their father, Caracalla had Geta assassinated by his hitmen.
