Unique and unlisted with this obverse legend. Spectacular module, neatly struck and centred. The flan is barely veiled. Beautiful golden colour. Superb at Fleur de coin. On the death of Constantine II (summer 340), Constantius II and Constans reigned jointly. Constans inherited the West: Spain, Brittany, Gaul and also Africa. He led a campaign against the Franks in 341-342 before moving to Britain to fight the Picts in 343. Our medallion is probably from the period during which the Emperor spent time in Trier, i.e. 342. When Constantine II dies (summer 340), Constantius II and Constans rule together. Constans inherits the West of the Empire : Spain, Brittany, Gaul and also Africa. He launches a campaign against the Franks in 341-342 before going to Great Britain to fight the Picts in 343. Our medallion has probably been struck during this period, when the Emperor passes through Trier, in 342. An example of this medallion, with developed legend PIVS FELIX, is currently in Berlin.
