ROMAN EMPIRE - NOVEL Suevi, pseudo-imperial coinage. Tremissis in the name of Valentinian III ND (c.430-450), Gaul ? Av. PIA VALENTINIANV INS AIVC. Bust diademed, draped and cuirassed, right. Rv. Within a crown formed of two branches, a cross pattée; below //ИO[B]. MEC.cf. 172 (Visigoths) - RIC.X.2064 (prototype) ; Gold - 1,45 g - 15 mm - 1 h NGC Ch AU 3/5 3/5 die shift (8583610-025). Possibly attributed to the Suevi in Gaul. Legends partly immobilized with PIA VALENTINIANV on the right and the consonants of CONOB reversed on the reverse. Fairly wide flan and fine style, with a slight mint defect on the reverse. Superb.
