She began her art studies at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Budapest under Mánó Vestztróczy and went on to study in Paris at the Colarossi School. Róna was an active member of the UME. As a graphic artist, she worked primarily as an illustrator for children's books. She illustrated hundreds of books throughout her career. In 1983 she was awarded the Magyarország Érdemes Művésze díj (Hungarian Artist of Merit Award). She presented herself at a solo exhibition in Paris in 1925, in the Fényes Adolf Hall in 1960 and in Kecskemét in 1984. Several works by Emmy Róna are in the Hungarian National Gallery. The Tabán, with the Cross Square (Hungarian: Kereszt tér) in the middle, is a former district of Budapest. In the 19th century, the Tabán was a centre of Buda's bohemia. In 1937, the area was demolished and converted into a park.
