Prince Oleg Konstantinovich (1892-1914), a member of the imperial family, was the great-grandson of Emperor Nicholas I and the son of the poet K.R. In 1913 he was promoted to Cornet in the Life Guard Hussar Regiment. From the start of the First World War, he took part in combat operations on the North-West Front. In September 1914, he was seriously wounded and died shortly afterwards. He was the only member of the Russian imperial family to die on the front in the First World War.
