Provenance: - Auction Sotheby's New York, 1 June 1991, Lot No. 59. - The Arlette and Antony Embden Collection, France. Several versions of this depiction are attributed to Pierre Reymond or his circle. A very similar enamel plaque is in the Frick Collection in New York. The example there differs in a few details, such as the raised rock in front of which Jesus is kneeling, the city behind a fence, and an additional figure on the right edge of the painting. Another enamel plaque, also attributed to Pierre Reymond, which is similar to the model of the Frick Collection, was auctioned at Sotheby's Paris (9 November 2010, Lot No. 7). The Hermitage in St. Petersburg has a version of Agony in the Garden by Pierre Reymond executed in grisaille technique. That plaque forms the central panel of a triptych (Inv. No. 287). Another example is known from the Passion Altarpiece in the Musée National de la Renaissance in Ecouen (Inv.
