ENAMEL PLATTER “APOLLO AND THE MUSES ON MOUNT PARNASSUS”
Limoges, 19th century, Samson. After Luca Penni (1500–1556) and Giorgio Ghisi (1520–1582).
Polychrome enamel with gold drawing on copper. The well depicts Apollo and the Muses on Mount Parnassus. Surrounded by tendrils and scrollwork with some winged animals or hybrid creatures and human heads. On the right, with the monogram S. Polychrome enamel with gold drawing. Depiction of a man in profile in a cartouche, surrounded by winged Cupids, the head of Diana, and two partially draped figures, as well as tendrils. In a metal mount.
