Clog-maker’s sign Made of wood, carved, engraved, painted and stained. Shaped like a clog, with the toe highlighted in red; the simulated strap, decorated with two doves feeding each other, and the ankle strap are accented with trompe l’œil braiding and festoons. Upper decorated with scales (perhaps created by light surface burns?). Inner and outer soles, as well as the heel, painted green or black. 19th century L. 51 cm A hanging loop on the heel; repainted areas, restorations and pinholes.
