Set that belonged to General de BOISSIEU consisting of a Major General's kepi in fine madder-coloured cloth, headband in black cloth embroidered with two rows of oak leaves, gilded soutaches, silver cordonnet indicating a higher command, inner cap in black satinette, headband in black leather, at the bottom, business card of the General, then Inspector of the Armoured Army and Cavalry (1969), size 59, khaki combed cloth jacket with open collar, gold embroidered expectations and gold general officer buttons, sleeves decorated with 5 silver metal army general stars (appointed to this rank in 1971), Free French metal insignia (minor enamel restoration), insignia of the 2nd DB and the 501st RCC with which he fought in 1944-1945, ribbon bar: Commander of the Legion of Honour, Companion of the Liberation, Commander of the Order of Merit, sleeve patch of the 2nd and 7th armoured divisions, khaki satin lining, Henri Mangot tailor's label. Some wear and holes. Attached is a photo of General de Boissieu dedicated to Bernard Bouquet as well as 2 other photos, one of which is a facsimile. ABE (de) BOISSIEU Alain (1914-2006). Admitted to St-Cyr in 1936. Second lieutenant in the Reconnaissance Group of the 10th Infantry Division in 1939. Mentioned twice in the French campaign, he was taken prisoner on 12 June 1940. On 28 March 1941, he escaped from Oflag II D in Pomerania. He joined the FFL on 12 September 1941 and took part in the Dieppe raid on 19 August 1942. He served with BM n°2 in Madagascar and Djibouti. In March 1943, he joined "force L", the future 2nd DB. He landed in Normandy on 30 July 1944 and was wounded on 12 August in the Orne when a 75mm shell killed the entire crew of his tank. He distinguished himself during the battle of the Ecouves forest and also on 25 August 1945 during the liberation of Paris, obtaining the surrender of the German troops present in the Luxembourg Palace. In December 1944, he was posted to the 501st Tank Regiment. He entered Berchtesgaden in May 1945 with the 2nd armoured division. On 18 January 1946, he was made a Companion of the Liberation. In 1956, he became commanding officer of the 4th chasseur regiment. In 1962, he was present at the Petit-Clamart bombing and saved the life of General de Gaulle. From 1971 to 1975, while General of the Army, he was Chief of Staff of the French Army. In 2002, he became Chancellor of the Order of the Liberation.
